My Holiday
I am not sure if I am suffering from an identity crisis but I feel the desire to tell you all about my holiday. The reason for the identity crisis – is this a business or social blog?
Conclusion – it doesn’t matter because in today’s world the barrier between the social and business aspects of life are being torn down. At the end of the day we are human beings who need to work to live. There are rules that recognise that there is a barrier between one’s business and private life but ultimately these rules only achieve their objective if they recognise that the human being is one whole person with different but connected lives.
Now I can tell you about my holiday!
I visited Cancun in Mexico and stayed in a great hotel with the most wonderful beaches with turquoise coloured water.
Proud to say that I jumped into the deep blue ocean to meet the world’s largest fish – the whale shark. An animal that is the size of a double decker bus that feeds on plankton. The only place on the planet that it comes to the surface is just by a massive coral reef about 30 miles out from Cancun.
I used to be scared to the auditee and their reaction to ill-conceived internal audit report. This fear pales into insignificance when when is faced (literally 10 feet from one’s face) with an open mouth which is heading for yours truly. On the basis I have only been swimming for 3 months I was grateful for Eva, my Dutch tour guide, who dragged out of the way impending obscruity and quite a legacy.
That is fear!
Its now back to London and to work and to the business and to corporate goverance.
Glad to be back in London’s stable setting and I now know what to do when I meet a whale shark.
