That is the very loud message from WPP to its staff. The advertising agency has become the largest global employer to mandate an aggressive policy. It will require all staff to spend at least four days a week in the office. The new policy focuses on the notion that human connection, creativity and relationships are the key to financial success.

Will Citi Hit Key Target?

The consensus amongst leading market analysts is that Citigroup will fail to meet a key target in terms of return on tangible common equity. CEO, Jane Fraser, will be measured against a target of 11 – 12 per cent. The analysts’ view is that she will hit 9 per cent. Does this spell the end of her reign?

Ban on Burning Dollars

The UK’s Advertising Standards Board has banned an advert that shows a Muslim preacher and former Russian martial arts proponent burning US dollars. The advert was commissioned by Wahed Investment to promote its ethical money products.

Warning Against Accountancy Standards Dilution

The soon to retire head of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has warned the standards in the profession are being diluted. Barry Melancon is particularly concerned about a decision to lower the entry requirement for the profession. At present graduates are required to demonstrate they have five years of university education. There are proposals to lower this in an attempt to attract more entrants.
