Coming Home From Oz
As I prepare to set off home from Melbourne a few reflections on my flying visit to Australia.
From a professional perspective, it is clear that there is a major disconnect between front office orientated business people and control focused auditors and risk managers. The former are focusing on selling products that meet client needs but nevertheless the sales side of life is alive and kicking. The latter continue to be focused on keeping regulators totally happy almost without any meaningful thought to the consequences on revenues.
Am I generalising? Of course.
On a personal note, one cannot help but admire the beauty of this vast continent. Yet somehow for a European such as myself there is this feeling of being far from home. The time zone factor is truly isolating at times.
