Chelsea – My Sanity in Question
As I sat yesterday at Wembley Stadium in tears I questioned my own sanity.
Here I was – a mildly intelligent man in tears as I watched my football team win the Double. For those of you not interested in football, the Double is the feat of winning the League Championship and the Domestic knockout competition on the same season. Since competitive football began c. 130 years ago only 6 teams have achieved this feat. Chelsea, my team, are now one of them.
How is it that a fully grown man such as myself is brought to tears.
Having had the chance to calm down and reflect on this thrilling experience I conclude that we human beings need to belong to something. We need to strive to achieve something. The joy of achievement is a very powerful emotion.
The football club, of which I have been a part for the best part of forty years, has finally achieved something brilliant.
We should all strive to belong and to excel.
Up the Blues!!
